he Internet has had a dramatic impact on our culture and commerce as a new form of communication. Just like Gutenberg’s printing press revolutionized the world through its mass printing so has the internet advanced means of communication and documentation.

Today, most companies and organizations have a website and use the web to communicate with the world. Yet, there are many organizations who are unable to utilize the internet while serving their community. They are being left behind in a world of high tech communication.

The First Step Foundation’s mission is to help charities and non-profit organizations take The First Step onto the world wide web by helping them design and develop a professional website. This will enhance their ability to serve their customers, clients, and beneficiaries and help them reach out to potential donors, volunteers, and a broader audience with their messages and stories of service.

By helping disadvantaged organizations utilize the web to communicate with their community we will help both organizations and individuals find and utilize needed services.

We understand the impact that an attractive, functional website can provide in helping an organization get it’s message out to the world. We are committed to providing organizations the tools they need to help others by assisting with a website.

The First Step Foundation was founded and is led by John Potter. Since 1997 he has worked on over 1,000 web projects as a web developer and graphic designer. John has also taught web design at Bunker Hill Community College in Charlestown, Massachusetts.
